Horror Horror - by Michelle-Gellar

THE NUN

May 10th 2008 15:14
Hello fellow horror fans. Another review has come into my playing field and to what I have to say is oddly funny. What I have found is something that you would only find in your straight to video section. You know those movies. The ones that you laugh at with the disappointing titles. To my dismay, I picked one up and I have to say, at least it was a shot in the dark. As for most remakes and movies that never make it in theathers this one does raise an eyebrow or two.

Now, at the Edge of Seventeen. We all know as people were wild and crazy, but when you are in a Catholic boarding school in Barcelona. It's not, " Girl's Gone Wild ". Anyone who is a surivor of Catholic school nuns know how twisted they can be and this film faintly suggests how wickly those horrible penguins can be. Most of all when they come out of Ice cold water.

The year, 2005. Setting Hoboken NJ. Place Ford high school prom. Oh damn it, it's Carrie all over again, isn't it? Only with water ! With this said if you sum up parts of, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Carrie, and a piece of Pshyco. With little Spainish accent . You will have the plot to this movie. I also have to tell you, I fell asleep twice just trying to watch it. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

Film Max and Lions Gate gives us another mindless entertainment, of just something to laugh at. In which, you will not because even the comedy element is missing. As for effects though you will reconized that the " Fantastic Factory " had overall production in this film too. Yes a name I know very well. You do too, remember the remake with Karen Black. "Invader's from Mars".

Directed by Luis De La Madrid, produced by Julio Fernandes and Brian Yuzna. Based on a story idea from Jaume Balaguero.( Damn, does the listing of people ever stop! You think that's bad. Check out the list of producers they had on this film ! Gees ! ) Also starring, Aninta Briem as Eve. Cristina Piaget as the Sister Ursula. Last but not least, Anna Vies as The Nun.

In Holy names we use, is in Holy names they die. Just watch and you will see. With that said, I give you warning. As they mention in the film, they will suffer Sacifice and torture. In which, you will do so yourself. For about an hour and forty-five mins. If I was the Nun, I would just kill eveyone by jumpping right inside there bodies. Since the human body is mainly comprised of 80 % of water.

There are two okay sences in this cheap film. The eleavator sence, which is merely predictable and the cleansing of a women youth. Makes you think twice about having kids. Overall, this film has better effects then most straight to video films and even better then most films that I have seen on the big screen. I give all props to all that try and I hope they surive this tragic film. If any of you do see this film remember, Eve is EVIL ! Then you know the end of the film and can just skip it.

Bloody Blogs to all,

Alex
